                                    OnamOnam is one of the harvest festivals of India. Itis a major festival celebrated in the state ofKerala during the months of August andSeptember. Malayalees of Kerala celebrateOnam to commemorate the homecoming ofKing Mahabali. It is believed that he ruledKerala for many years during his regime, thepeople were prosperous and could lead aprosperous life. There were no thieves orcriminals. The government of Kerala hasapproved Onam as the state%u2019s official festival.Onam is also a festival of food. The month inwhich we celebrate Onam is also the season ofagricultural harvesting. During all four days ofthe festival, there will be Onasadya. Onasadya isfamous for its variety of vegetable recipes. Themost important part of the sadya is the fourdifferent types of payasam.The traditional meal is served on a banana leafand includes a wide variety of dishes, each withits unique taste.The kerala government%u2019s celebration will last forone week. During the festival days, the entirecity will be illuminated. There will also beprocessions with floats organized by differentgovernment departments.Onam is a time for reunion, joy andtogetherness. People decorate their homes withfloral designs called pookalam and exchangegifts, making it a festival full of love andhappiness.- LEYA THOMAS CLASS 1 DCake- a- liciousCakes are my favourite desert. Not justany cake, these are home-made cakes thatmy mom bakes.In fact , at home cakebaking becomes a family event. I also helpmy mom with beating the eggs andstirring the batter. My mom makes themfrom atta and adds lots of dry fruits andnuts that makes it even more healthy andtasty.Once we put the mixture in the oventhe aroma fills the entire house and Isimply cannot wait to eat it. Of all thecakes that my mom bakes, thepineapple upside down cake is thebest. Being the youngest, I always getto cut the cake.These cakes always get finished withinminutes.
