Our approach towards children
For the past few years our school has understood the need for guidance for children, be it in the academics or outside the framework of the curriculum. As the children come from different background we have embraced them as they are. With the support and cooperation of the parents, we have been able to cater to the needs of the children. Couselling and guidance is a continuous aid provided for children from the nursery till the 10th standards.
Developing good character is emphasized in the story based form in the lower primary children. The topics include honesty, sharing, truth, courage etc. During the process the children come up with their own issues, different emotions and in the process behaviors are observed. In course of time their needs are identified and the child is helped to overcome.
The social, emotional and moral development of the students is necessary. Here the children are given priority to introspect their own issues and are encouraged to express them. Children understand and identify themselves with the story based sessions. The sessions are creative and there are facilitating questions that are asked followed by activities. They are given the choice to answer. Children who are shy, timid are encouraged and appreciated for their effort.
The higher secondary students are provided with sessions on creative thinking, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, career guidance, adolescence issues and cognitive errors. Hence there is no room for students to be quiet during sessions. Children involve actively and contribute in the activity. They come with new ideas and put forth their doubts. Discussion and debate methods are encouraged.
The Principal is a direct sponsor of the counseling program and extended this facility to parents and teachers. Parents are requested to take prior appointments should there be a need for self or children. Parental counseling is undertaken between 3.00 to 4.00pm in our school. Based on the intensity we also suggest external therapists and counseling so that concerned individuals can spend ample of time for in depth intervention.
